Affectionately known as ‘Sugar J Poet’, Jeremiah is a Black British-Jamaican writer and performer based in Croydon whose emotive work captivates audiences and charms them with bated breath! Full of expression and gravitas, poetry is in Jeremiah’s veins and as a poet and facilitator, he inspires others with his craft in improvisation, public speaking and creative thinking. Jeremiah’s voice is deep and highly nuanced with an edge of cheekiness (when he wants to show it!) – and his words flow smoothly and melodically with natural rhythm. Any important message can be expressed powerfully or subtly with Jeremiah’s voice and delivery.

Jeremiah’s very own debut show, “Likkle Rum with Grandma”, a journey over a generational bridge exploring mortality, migration and identity, sold out to performances in multiple venues from Stanley Halls (LIPFEST), The Roundhouse (Last Word) to Hackney Showroom and The Albany.
There are genuinely too many in Sugar J’s accolades but we’ll do our best to name a few: Jeremiah has performed on stage and at festivals internationally in cities such as New York and Los Angeles; was featured in the Evening Standard for his poetry; was one of the faces of Nationwide’s ‘Voices’ ad campaign; he runs his own The Sugar and Dread podcast; and works as a ‘Poet Chef’ with The Poetry Takeaway, writing bespoke poetry for members of the public across the UK and Ireland – with one such member, BBC Radio 2 presenter Jo Wiley, whom Jeremiah wrote a poem to be LIVE on air, in front of a studio audience.
