LOLA FINAL.png

Londoner, poet & teacher, expressive, dynamic, soothing
(18 - 25 years)

Born to a Jamaican mother and Nigerian father, Lola is a Brit(ish) poet, writer, facilitator, and English teacher at a secondary school based in London. She pours her heart into everything she does as her work revolves around family, loss and ideas of black womanhood.

Lola’s voice is mesmerising with courage, expressiveness, and rhythm, traits found frequently among performance poets. Her voice is not only soothing and melodic but hold gravitas with the serious topics she covers in her words. Enjoying her favourite pastime of daydreaming and writing, we hope nothing will slow her down! You’re an inspiration to us, Lola!

More about our Ace Talent:

Lola is a Barbican Young Poet Alumnus and has been featured by Apples and Snakes, BBC1xtra, English Touring Theatre, BoxedIn, and Roundhouse’s ‘The Last Word Festival’. She was one of only ten poets selected to respond to the themes in Michaela Coel’s daring and heart wrenching, “I May Destroy You”. From discussions on rape and consent to the social media age, this collaboration features ten new works of poetry by ten of the most exciting poets working today.

When she’s not listening to the same playlist on repeat, our Lola recorded the song “I used to love H.E.R. (Things Fall Apart)” with Tommy Evans and appeared in adverts and films around her poetry. We’re swooning over here and will listen to your voice on repeat, Lola!
